Hawthorne Elementary School is a vibrant public elementary school nestled in the heart of Albuquerque, New Mexico. As part of the Albuquerque Public Schools district, we proudly serve students from kindergarten through fifth grade. Our school is a warm and welcoming place where we believe in creating a respectful learning environment that celebrates our multicultural community.
At Hawthorne, we are dedicated to academic excellence and fostering positive student behavior. We understand that a strong partnership between home and school is essential for our students' success. That's why we encourage parent involvement through our Parent Staff Association (PSA), which organizes exciting field trips and special events throughout the year.
We care about our students' well-being, which is why Hawthorne is a Title I school. This means we offer free breakfast and lunch to all our students, ensuring they have the nourishment they need to thrive in their learning.
Our school day begins at 8:40 a.m. and wraps up at 4:10 p.m. We ask that students arrive in their classrooms by 8:38 a.m. to avoid being marked tardy. To maintain a positive and safe atmosphere, we have a dress code that all students are expected to follow.
The health and safety of our students is a top priority. That's why we have a full-time health assistant and a part-time nurse on staff to provide essential health services.
At Hawthorne Elementary, our mission is clear: we strive to create a safe, respectful, and fear-free environment for everyone in our school community. Our vision is for every child to understand the important question: “Why are we here today?” The answer is simple: We are here to learn and to respect one another.
Join us at Hawthorne Elementary School, where learning is a joyful adventure!
