At Sun Fern Montessori Children's House, we believe in creating a warm and inviting space where children can thrive! Located in the heart of Portland, Oregon, our year-round, in-home Montessori school is designed for little ones aged 2.5 to 6 years.

Meet Our Guide

Our school is led by Tara Cunningham, an AMI-certified Montessori guide with an impressive 23 years of experience. Tara is passionate about fostering a child-centered environment where every child can grow and learn at their own pace.

A Day at Sun Fern

Each day at Sun Fern is filled with exciting activities that encourage:

• Independence: Children learn to make choices and take responsibility for their learning.
• Concentration: We provide a calm space for children to focus on their tasks.
• Community building: Kids learn to work together and respect one another.
• Respect for all life: We teach the importance of caring for ourselves, each other, and the environment.

Our daily schedule includes a mix of individual and small group activities, plenty of outdoor time, and opportunities to develop practical life skills, language, math, art, music, and sensory experiences.
