Nestled in the beautiful Booderee National Park, Jervis Bay Public School is more than just a school; it’s a vibrant community hub! Established in 1914, our school has a rich history, originally serving Defence families. Over the years, we have blossomed into a diverse institution, welcoming students from the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community, HMAS Creswell, Jervis Bay Village, and the surrounding areas.
At Jervis Bay School, we offer a variety of programs to cater to our young learners:
We take pride in our strong ties to the local community, with around 90% of our students identifying as Indigenous. This is the highest percentage among ACT schools! Our curriculum is deeply rooted in the traditional knowledges of First Nations people, emphasizing the idea of 'Country as Teacher.' We align our teachings with the Australian Curriculum for primary years and the Early Years Learning Framework for preschool.
Our students enjoy unique learning experiences, such as the Junior Rangers program, where they learn about the land, country, and culture. This hands-on approach helps them connect with their environment and understand its importance.
At Jervis Bay School, we believe in creating a challenging yet inclusive environment where every child can thrive. We prioritize student achievement and success by using personalized learning plans and student achievement data to help each child reach their academic goals.
We celebrate growth and achievement, fostering a love for the Earth as a foundation for environmental responsibility. At Jervis Bay Public School, we are committed to ensuring that every child experiences success and feels valued in our community. Join us in this wonderful journey of learning and discovery!
