What We Do

The Education Review Office (ERO), known in Māori as Te Tari Arotake Mātauranga, plays a vital role in ensuring quality education across New Zealand. As the government’s external education evaluation agency, ERO evaluates and reports on the education and care of learners in various settings, including:

• Schools
• Kura (Māori schools)
• Kōhanga reo (Māori language preschools)
• Puna reo (Māori immersion early childhood services)
• Early childhood services
