Welcome to Jardim de Infância São Jorge!

Nestled in the heart of Alfragide, Portugal, Jardim de Infância São Jorge is a delightful Waldorf-inspired preschool and daycare. We are proud to be the first Waldorf initiative in Portugal, celebrating 35 wonderful years of nurturing young minds since 2019!

Our Programs

At Jardim de Infância São Jorge, we offer a warm and inviting environment for children aged 12 months to 6 years. Our programs include:

• Daycare (Creche) for little ones aged 12 to 36 months. Here, we focus on providing individual care and a daily routine filled with love and attention.
• Kindergarten for children aged 3 to 6 years. In our kindergarten, we believe in the power of free play! Children explore their creativity through guided activities like drawing, painting, and gardening.

Our Philosophy

We follow the Waldorf pedagogy, which takes a holistic approach to education. This means we nurture not just the mind, but also the feelings and will of each child. Our goal is to support their development in a way that feels natural and joyful.

Healthy Eating

We care about what our children eat! Our meals are ovolactovegetarian, made with organic products to ensure that every bite is healthy and delicious.

A Bit of History

The Waldorf approach was born after World War I, aiming to bring hope and stability through a new way of learning. It focuses on human development in seven-year cycles, helping children grow in a balanced and thoughtful way.
